Fully
automatic
A programmable logic controller (PLC) enables remote monitoring of cleaning cycles, and manages the operation of the Hydroball system without any need for human intervention. After every 2000 ball cleaning cycles (this number can be adjusted according to the duration of heat exchanger/condenser operation, among other factors), the PLC will transmit the signal to the server via a GSM¨Cbased mobile communication system to alert vendor for a timely replacement of the sponge balls. (Note: 2000 ball cleaning cycles translate into approximately three months of Hydroball system operation.) The PLC system will also diagnose and report any malfunction of the motorize valves.
No prime mover The cleaning balls will be propelled through the Heat Exchangers/Condenser tubes using the kinetic force from the flow of the cooling water entering the Heat Exchangers/Condenser. Thus, the absence of an extraneous ¡®prime mover', for instance, a pump, to circulate the sponge balls translates into enhanced system reliability, and eliminates the need for additional maintenance activities. Hydroball System is able to withstand high water pressure and no discharge of water.
Low operating cost
The only 'consumables' are sponge balls. The annual maintenance
including sponge ball replacement and part to part warranty ranges
from SGD1,000 to SGD5,000.
Water Wastage in Other System
Assumptions:
| Hours of operation per
day for the condenser |
12
hours |
| Working cycles (each cycle lasts for
40 minutes) |
18 cycles |
| Number for days in operation per year
|
280 days |
| Sponge balls used |
150 |
| Condenser cooling capacity 500 TR
Distance between the ball trap and the injector |
5,000 mm |
| Draining water length (when the balls
enter the injector) |
150 balls x 72
mm = 10,800 mm |
| Draining water pipe length |
5,000 mm |
 |
Waste water volume for
one working cycle
= (Total draining water length)(Cross-sectional area of
1.5 inch pipe) = 17.67 litres
Waste water volume in one day = 17.67 litres x 18 cycles
= 318 litres
With 4 condensers, amount of water drained per day is
1,272 litres or 1.27 m3
|
| In a year (280 days) total
wastage of water per condenser = 356
m3 |

Easy installation, vertical or horizontal
directly to pipe lines
The HBT can be installed easily with virtually no modifications
to existing pipelines. Normally, installations can be completed
in less than a day.
No loss of circulating water
There will be no loss of water for every Hydroball cleaning cycle. Water from the cooling tower will be recirculated back to the cooling tower after flowing through the Heat Exchangers/Condenser tubes. Since no replacement water needs to be introduced into the air-conditioning system, this will translate into additional cost savings. Unlike other cleaning systems which require partial draining of the cooling water for every cleaning cycle to propel the sponge balls into the Heat Exchangers/Condenser tubes, the Hydroball system does not call for.
Conserves Energy
Since the Hydroball Technics System maintains the heat transfer
capacity of the condenser at peak efficiency, the compressor operates
at optimum operating condition and energy consumption is also maintained
at an optimum level. This results in the conservation of energy
for air conditioning.
Chiller Operates at Peak Efficiency
Because the compressor operates at its optimum level, it is not
subjected to high operating stresses. Hence compressor maintenance
is reduced and compressor life is extended.
No Chiller Shutdown for Condenser
Cleaning
As the Hydroball Technics System keeps the condenser perpetually
clean while the chiller is operating, there is no need to shutdown
the chiller for condenser cleaning. Hence chiller utilisation and
operational availability is maximised and the chiller return on
investment is optimised.
Prevents Condenser Tube Corrosion
Microbiologically Induced Corrosion (MIC) and underdeposit corrosion
of the condenser tubes are eliminated because the Hydroball Technics
System keeps the condenser tubes perpetually free from scale and
fouling.
Reliable and Easy Maintenance
The Hydroball System consists of two(2) moving components : solenoid valve and direction valve. Thus, Hydroball system consumes lowest maintenance cost among all the similar systems.
No Heat Loss
The will be no heat loss as the system doesn't allow heated water leaving the condenser to mix with the cooling water entering the condenser.
Operate in Auxiliary Mode instead of Parallel Mode
Hydroball system operates in auxiliary mode (by pass the upstream and downstream pipe) instead of parallel (serial) mode. Thus, malfunction of Hydroball system will not affect the normal operation of chiller.
In-house Manufacturing of Sponge Balls, Sand Balls and Brush Balls
Hydroball Technics conducts R&D team to produce in-house manufacturing of our sponge balls, sand balls and brush balls under our in-house formula. The performance of the sponge balls is tested to suit the usage of the cleaning requirement.
Easy Replacement of Sponge Balls while no chiller shutdown
During replacement of sponge balls, user may simply lock the hand valve to stop the water flow to the ball station. Next, user may open the acrylic cover of the ball station and replace the old sponge balls with new set. The sponge balls in the Centrifuge Ball Station can be easily replaced while the chiller is in operation.
Transparent System
The sponge balls can be easily viewed at the Ball Catch and the Ball Station.
